Tenancy contracts are applied for through EJARI- an online registration system of the Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA), requiring all Dubai rental or lease contracts to be recorded at this portal. This system is developed to legalize the relationship between tenants and landlords in Dubai.

Acquiring permits and approvals for your business

Different agencies and municipal bodies provide the required permits depending on the type of business in Dubai. Depending on the type of business, different permits and licenses should be acquired. For example, in the case of a food manufacturing business, the Food Safety Department's permission is mandatory. At the same time, if it is a transit-based business, you should procure the Road Transport Authority's permit. The procured permits and licenses are submitted to the DED for renewal of business licenses.

Submitting documents to DED

Till 15 th September Tourists under 18 to be granted Free UAE Visa

This schemed launches every year between 15th July to 15th September targeting children under 18, will grant them tourist visa. However, they need to accompany their parent. The Federal Authority for Identity & Citizenship has announced launch of this scheme from Monday onwards, in June this year. This announcement has been made keeping in mind last year’s cabinet decision made in June, stipulating waiver for children under 18, from 15th July to 15th September, every year. But the condition is that children under 18 need to be accompanied by at least one parent visiting the UAE on tourist visa, be it long or short term visa and irrespective of the visa’s validity. Tourists eager make a trip to the UAE this summer were beckoned by the authority to benefit from the waiver, thereby saving precious money. Tourists were also encouraged to make UAE their favorite tourist destination. Tourist visa is issued by the authority, namely of two types, viz. 30 days short term visa for single entry at Dh200, extendable twice each time for 30 days and 90 days long term visa, extendable twice each time for 30 days at Dh550. Extension made every time involves a fee of Dh600.

Family friendly destinations

Such facilities provided are expected to promote UAE and enhance its global competitiveness as being a leading and attractive tourist destination inviting visitors and families from across the globe to get to know and experience its rich culture, heritage, visit the beaches and entertainment, including world class hotel and hospitality services. It was on 19th June that the scheme got announced initially. Most UAE based travel agencies during that time were not aware about the government initiatives taken and hence, had declined many enquiries out of ignorance. A representative from Abu Dhabi’s Cozmo in a recent interview with the Gulf News organized in June had stated that they were not aware of the launch of tourist visa charge waiver. Hence, all customers were required to make payments for all the months. Also, they also claimed of not receiving any such official instruction or information from the immigration department. Several Tourism agencies within the capital including Greenline Travel & Tourism, Make My Tour and Musafir.Com claimed of not having derived any such information from the immigration officials. But other agencies had started to issue free visas to those in the under 18 segment, as they were in receipt of the communiqué last year. Thus, they simply accused those agencies of pleading unawareness and ignorance, just to extort money from the tourists. The Managing Director, Tarun Soni of Abu Dhabi based Soni Travels stated that since the previous year, they had been practicing the Under 18 visa charge waiver and also had processed several applications. Numerous families had already benefitted from this scheme and had visited the UAE without requiring to pay their child’s visa fees. The child’s tourist visa fee generally starts at Dh350.

How to Start a Restaurant or Cafeteria Business in Dubai and the UAE

How to Start a Restaurant or Cafeteria Business in Dubai and the UAE

The restaurant sector is expanding all around the world. Despite global economic swings, nothing appears to diminish our desire to eat out. According to recent estimates, the global food service sector is worth approximately USD 3 trillion. And there are no signs of it stopping down. The tendency is similar in the United Arab Emirates. The restaurant market in the United Arab Emirates is expected to be worth USD 3.3 billion. Fast food restaurants account for over USD 1.5 billion, followed by casual dining at USD 880 million and fine dining at USD 840 million. However, a big market isn't the only reason why the UAE's restaurant sector is so appealing. We dine out 6.75 times a week on average in the UAE, which is more than the US average of 4.2 times. If you want to build a restaurant or a cafeteria in Dubai, now is an excellent moment to do so.

Restaurant Formation in Dubai

The creation procedure is basically the same whether you want to create a restaurant or a cafeteria in Dubai. You'll need two different licences. The first is a business permit. The Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) or a free zone can be used to apply for this. Then you must have the food control department approve your restaurant plans. After you've finished this step, you'll be able to apply for your food license. The Dubai Municipality Food Safety Department has released this statement. You must include a copy of your trade license as well as a restaurant floor plan that includes all entrances and exits, food processing spaces, food storage areas, all windows and ventilation, all food processing equipment, and all washing equipment as part of your application. The ‘Food Code' must be followed in order for your license to stay valid. This is similar to food safety regulations in many other large nations, and it entails fulfilling specific standards for food preparation, production, and cleanliness. The regulation includes everything from food preparation and storage to ventilation and cleaning facilities, among other things. Any institution that prepares or serves food, such as restaurants, cafeterias, motels, and supermarkets, is subject to the regulation.

The Application Process

While there are some extra steps to applying for a food license, the procedure for applying for a commerce license is quite straightforward. You must first define your company operations before submitting your initial application. Will you be running a café, a restaurant, a culinary kitchen, or anything similar? You should also specify the sort of cuisine you want to sell, as well as how you want to sell it: eat-in, take-out, or delivery. To minimize delays in your license application, it's critical that you include these data. You must also avoid engaging in any trading activity that is not specified on your license.
