The Khalifa Port or the Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), the largest of the ports in the UAE, was established in 2012 with the aim to increase inbound investment and trade in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi Port controls all trade and master developments. The Khalifa port was established with the intention to diversify the economy of Abu Dhabi in infrastructure, business service, private sector, and real estate; while the primary motive of the Abu Dhabi Port is to establish and develop all ports including the Khalifa Port (exceptions being military ports and Oil and Gas ports).
ADPC lies between Dubai and Abu Dhabi covering 2.7 square kilometres in Taweelah. Khalifa Port is the first semi-automated port in the UAE. Hence, companies in the port are best benefitted by its ICT (Information and Communication Technology) along with automated marine services. As the connectivity is well-build, Khalifa Port allows access to around 52 maritime ports and to about 4.5 billion people in 4 different time zones. ADPC has approximately 20 shipping lines that support and develop trading.
